Buddha in a Traffic Jam is an autobiographical film based on its writer and director Vivek Agnihotri's life. Its ensemble cast comprises Arunoday Singh, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Mahie Gill, Anchal Dwivedi and Indal Singh (Indal Raja) in role of nanhe Singh. Indal Raja's role is very much impressible and heart touching. The film also takes on various themes of corruption, campus politics, moral policing, crony socialism and the aspirational India wiping it clean of its middlemen. It probes deep into the relevance of socialism and capitalism in a poverty and corruption ridden India seeking to become a superpower.
Buddha in a Traffic Jam was recently premiered for students at Jawaharlal Nehru University after it was first denied screening due to the political atmosphere within the campus. Later on it was invited by the students and screened in open air with over 4.5 thousand students and faculty.
